Pet Portraits

Dog Portraits Artist London

Dog Portraits

I create and design authentic oil paintings and detailed graphite drawings of dogs through a realism lens. I ensure to work closely with each client to best capture the personal and intimate details of their beloved pet. Dogs are widely perceived to be family and I believe the best way to immortalise them is through a custom made painting, capturing their individual quirks and personality traits. Each relationship between owner and dog is irreplaceable and this is something I take into account with every brush stroke. The painted dog portraits can be custom made to any size to fit the clients’ preference.

I like to add a degree of personal trait from myself as an dog artist.

Canine dog portrait paintings have been a part of human culture for a significant period of time. This is portrayed throughout art history, where they hold a strong companion presence and act as a muse for each painter. Dog portraits have always symbolised guidance, loyalty, friendship, and love. Once seen as a classist luxury spanning back to the 18th century, dog oil portraits have gained contemporary popularity. As dogs remain a vital part of our lives, now more than ever, dog portraits are becoming increasingly favored and feature a plethora of breeds, sizes, and owners.

A painted portrait of a beloved dog is the perfect gift and addition to every dog owners’ home, something unique to commemorate a dear pet.

My Capabilities

Creative art & Services

01.

Graphite drawings on pastel paper with a textured finish

On pastel paper with a textured finish set with fixing spray – Works well with Pets, portraits, homes, landscapes, nature and customised designs.

02.

Oil paint on primed canvases, scale ranging from any size necessary

Oil paint usually reserved for momentous portraits, or commissions sent from reference. Oil paint is a diverse medium but has a shiny and blurred rich finish, usually perfect for pet portraits, family portraits and landscapes.

03.

Acrylic on textured paper and primed canvases

Acrylic usually reserved for more colourful designs and commissions, usually quite abstract and modern, less reserved than oil paint and quite thick, bright and shiny in texture. Best performs with abstract designs, nature and flowers and colourful less detailed commissions.

I paint both single and group portraits. The latter makes for a wonderful portrait for owners with multiple dogs, or a portrait depicting both a current dog with a friend that is no longer with us.

The background can be in a neutral colour matching the colour palette of fur or a collar, or can feature a chosen landscape. I paint the dog portraits from clients’ own photographs. These should ideally be taken by a window or outdoors on an overcast yet bright day to ensure the best lighting and correct colours. I strive to capture every clients’ character in my paintings, including those of their dogs. Therefore, as an example an ideal photograph could be taken in the dog’s favourite spot. It could be in the park, the garden or with their favourite toys. If you want to add a personal touch to your home and celebrate your best friend with a custom made oil painting or graphite drawing, please get in touch with your specific requirements and I will gladly take you through the steps.
